Incredible Experiments at the Alamo Drafthouse

Huzzah!  We held our first official event as The Hopper on June 16th at the Alamo Sloans Lake for the opening of the Incredibles 2. Excited film fans explored the science of superpowers through our “Incredible Experiments!” menu of activities inspired by our favorite super family. We put super strength to the test, created super stretchy recipes, investigated the physics of super speed, played with real force fields, and discovered the wonders of invisibility. We learned that families + fun films + hands-on activities = a SUPER powerful combination!

Wanna make your own super stretchy recipe inspired by Elastigirl?

  • Pour ⅓ cup of glue into a small cup.
  • Spice it up with food coloring, glitter, foam beads and/or shaving cream.
  • Add a tablespoon of contact solution.
  • Experiment by adding small amounts of baking soda and stir until it becomes sticky.  Use your hands to see how far your silly putty can stretch.

Beta Testing Events

We’ve been busy over the past year testing out our future model. We tested our menu model, a potential workshop event, and whether food and drink were essential to the experience. Through these events we engaged with many community members, and learned a lot! We’re taking a brief break from beta events to focus on fundraising, but don’t worry, they’ll return soon!

Explore the video recaps from each of these events:

  • Beta 1: Testing the Menu Model
  • Beta 2: Testing a Workshop activity
  • Beta 3: Testing the Menu Model with new consumers
